How to add button to the browser?

CHAOS! is a browser based applet which allows site surfers to exchange instant messages (see Main page). There are two main ways to launch the applet.
  1. Webmasters may add the button to webpage (for details go to here).
  2. Webusers running IE, FFox or Opera (all platforms) can configure their browsers to add CHAOS! launch button to browser's main toolbar. The click on the button runs CHAOS! applet on open webpage.

Opera users: drag-n-drop the icon to Opera's toolbar.
That's all!

IE users should perform the following steps (for all platforms):
If you browser can download UNSIGNED ActiveX (MSFT expands ActiveX restrictions to powerless few lines JavaScript) do fast installation click here. You'll need assert unsecure install (and click again).

Otherwise:

  1. Download Chaos.cab cabinet file to temporary folder.
  2. Unzip Chaos.cab into this temporary folder. (Winzip can do it!)
  3. Open the folder.
  4. There are 3 short platform independent scripts and one icon file. No executables. Revise the scripts for more security.
  5. Right-click the file Chaos.inf.
  6. Click "Install"
  7. Restart IE.
  8. On main toolbar find the button . If you don't find the button do the following steps:
  9. Enter your Favorite site and click the button!


FireFox users should do the following steps (for all platforms):
For fast installation click here. You'll need assert unsecure install (and click again).

Otherwise:

  1. download ChaosFireFoxInstall.zip
  2. Unzip it to the FireFox folder: c:\Program files\Mozilla FireFox\extensions
    If Firefox has been installed in different folder, use installation folder.
    IMPORTANT: preserve file structure!(i.e. on WINZIP CHECK UP "Use folder names" options.)
    You should see the following folder structure:

    Mozilla FireFox\extensions\chaos@we-globe.net\chrome.manifest
    Mozilla FireFox\extensions\chaos@we-globe.net\install.rdf
    Mozilla FireFox\extensions\chaos@we-globe.net\chrome\content\Chaos.ico
    Mozilla FireFox\extensions\chaos@we-globe.net\chrome\content\Chaos.xul
  3. Restart FireFox.
  4. You should see button. Enter your Favorite site and click the button!
